What Lindsay Has to Say

What catchphrase do most of your patients remember you by?

Movement is medicine

What aspect of movement do you find the most fascinating?

I am most excited by integrating muscle re-education back into functional movement. It is satisfying to see it “click” for patients that the treatment we have been doing directly goes into making them feel more efficient, stronger, and in less pain.

Tell me about your PT school experience.

I earned my Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Long Island University in Brooklyn, New York. Their program emphasizes manual physical therapy techniques, including Functional Manual Therapy™ with the Institute of Physical Art, Maitland training, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation. The program was incredibly rigorous and focuses on preparing their graduates for success in clinical practice.

Which patients are your favorite to work with?

I enjoy working with a variety of patients with muscle and joint dysfunctions. I have a particular interest in patients with pelvic health issues, including pelvic girdle pain, hip pain, low back pain, abdominal discomfort and scarring, constipation, incontinence, and prenatal/postpartum women.

What has been the focus of your continuing education?

I have been trained in Functional Manual Therapy™ through the Institute of Physical Art and am working towards becoming a Certified Functional Manual Therapist. I have taken courses in Women’s Health through Herman and Wallace and also have training in Functional Dry Needling.

Why do you work for Body Gears?

Working at Body Gears enables me to focus on providing individualized quality care with lasting results. Physical Therapy treatment at Body Gears can be life-changing, in that it changes how patients move, carry themselves, and position their bodies, so that they can enjoy optimal and pain-free movement long after their course of treatment has concluded.

How do you stay active?

I enjoy hiking in the great outdoors. Some of my favorite hiking spots are Rocky Mountain National Park, The Appalachian Trail, and through local forest preserves. When I’m not hiking, you can find me doing yoga to stay strong and centered.

Describe your perfect Saturday.

My ideal Saturday is waking up early to go on a long hike or bicycle ride, and then enjoying a good home cooked meal with family and friends.

What Patients Have to Say About Lindsay

“The Body Gears PT team are excellent professionals and I can’t recommend them enough! They’ve helped me rehab various injuries over the last 6 months with results that are outstanding. Lindsay is my primary fabulous PT who is very knowledgeable, supportive and takes the time to walk through the process and treatment. She truly is a miracle worker! Each PT provides rehab treatments that are tailored specifically for the individual’s injury and recovery goals. The staff at Body Gears are well trained, go out of their way to demonstrate every exercise correctly and exceed my expectations on the quality and level of care provided. I highly recommend and wouldn’t go anywhere else! Body Gears Oak Brook……YOU ALL ROCK! ”

Laura P. (Body Gears Graduate)

I have just completed 10 visits of therapy post hysterectomy with PT, Dr. Lindsay Jana, a Women’s Health Specialist at Body Gears, Oak Brook. She was able to release the post-op scar tissue that had developed and worked with me on strengthening my pelvic floor muscles. I requested PT from my urogynecologist surgeon to ensure that I was doing my Kegel exercises properly. I quickly learned that I was not, but that problem was quickly solved in therapy sessions. After the initial evaluation, Lindsay developed a treatment plan and recommended 12 visits to resolve my issues. She was able to discharge me in 10 visits because the goals had been achieved.
I was impressed that Lindsay also assessed my gait and identified some asymmetry in my hips and core muscles that were contributing to my pelvic floor weakness. She worked with me on the coordination of breathing associated with the pelvic floor, diaphragm, and abdominal muscles. Honestly, I think any woman could benefit from some sessions to perfect the techniques and receive education about how to keep these muscles functioning properly for normal body functions.
The Body Gears staff is professional and technically excellent. I highly recommend the facility and Dr. Lindsay Jana.”

D. L. (Body Gears Graduate)

“Lindsay is amazing!  She is compassionate and listens to your concerns and works with you to achieve your goals. I couldn’t have made the amazing progress I have made without her. Lindsay also sent me home with a list of exercises to help me maintain my improved condition. I not only feel better but feel I have a strategy moving forward to maintain my improved condition. I highly recommend Body Gears and their Functional Manual Therapy technique. They worked my butt off but it was well worth it.”

Sandra W. (Body Gears Graduate)

“Lindsay astounded me with her knowledge and ability to pinpoint my pain and her ability to use trigger point therapy to get my body to reabsorb the scar tissue.

Not only has she been my therapist, she’s gone above and beyond and truly been an advocate for me when she felt something needed to be addressed by my oncologist. She has been both vigilant and exceptional in treating my abdominal and pelvic pain. I’m thankful for her and all the staff at Body Gears. They are all extremely professional, helpful, cheerful, and kind.

I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else for my physical therapy needs again.”

Debra B. (Body Gears Graduate)

“Lindsay is an incredible PT! She treated me for frozen shoulder & tennis elbow and my 11-year-old daughter for a soccer knee injury. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable but extremely patient and thoughtful. She would always take the time to explain to us exactly what method she was using to treat our injuries and would even take the time to show us in a book what exactly was going on with the pain that we were having and how she was going to treat it. She was genuinely concerned about our well being and wanted to do everything possible to eliminate our pain. Everyone at Body Gears was friendly, polite and very helpful whether it was verifying our insurance, scheduling our appointments, post-treatment exercises, etc…I would highly recommend them for any physical therapy needs for anyone in your family.”
