Joe received his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science from Shawnee State University (OH) before earning his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Findlay (OH). He completed his Orthopedic Residency at Mercy Health-Cincinnati.

What aspect of movement do you find the most fascinating? Why?

The body’s ability to adapt to the stresses and forces we place on it.

What is one specialty area that makes you stand out?

I enjoy the conservative management of musculoskeletal pain utilizing manual therapy and exercise. I have a particular interest in the management of spine related pain. Learning more about the changes that happen within the nervous system in response to persistent pain is a recent interest of mine.  

Which patients are your favorite to work with?

I enjoy working with all patients but love working with those who want to continue to stay active throughout their lifespan.  

What are your values and how did they influence your career?

Excellence and altruism, I enjoy learning more about the profession to improve my patient’s outcomes. I will always advocate for my patients and will always keep their personal goals in mind when working with them.

What catchphrase do most of your patients remember you by?

Let’s calm it down, then build it back up.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Traveling, spending time with family/friends, and cheering on the best football team in the country, the Cleveland Browns.

How do you stay active?

I enjoy weightlifting and running. Half marathons are my preferred race distance.
