Dr. David Hurley, PT, DPT

David always had an interest in sports and physical activity from a young age. As a middle and high school athlete in football and lacrosse, David was familiar with the sports side of injury, but it wasn’t until much later that he found his calling of physical therapy.

David began his academic career at Michigan State University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Physiology with honor from the Lyman Briggs Residential College and Honors College in 2014. There, he was involved in extensive research and developed a passion for the study of the human body and movement. After shadowing for a summer in the outpatient orthopedic setting, David knew he had found his true passion of physical therapy. A lifelong Michigander, David then moved to Chicago in 2014 to begin his graduate study at Northwestern University. In 2017, he received his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree and has continued to advance his skills in the outpatient orthopedic setting ever since. David is particularly interested in pain science and finding ways to optimize human movement while helping patients to effectively understand, manage, and eliminate their pain.

David enjoys working with all patient populations and has a true passion for helping people overcome their movement dysfunction. He is very much looking forward to continuing to advance his manual skills as a physical therapist at Body Gears and the opportunity to spend more time with patients to comprehensively and effectively treat their conditions.

In his free time, David enjoys traveling and exploring new restaurants and activities around Chicago. He particularly enjoys attending concerts, outdoor activities, running, playing sports, and staying active with general physical fitness. You can always find David cheering on his alma maters, the Michigan State Spartans and Northwestern Wildcats, especially during his favorite sport of college football.
