National Physical Therapy Month! #PTDOS

October is National Physical Therapy Month!

PTDOS 300x300 National Physical Therapy Month! #PTDOS

National Physical Therapy month started in 1982 by the American Physical Therapy Association. Since then, this celebration grew in popularity so much that it is now recognized by the National Health Observances Calendar!

In honor of this special month, we strive to go beyond physical therapy and spread positive change by serving our communities. This message has been reinforced and championed by the #PTDOS (Physical Therapy Day of Service) initiative that happens every year in October. Ambassadors from all over the nation (Body Gears included) created so much momentum that this message has turned into a GLOBAL out pour of physical therapists around the world coming together to “be the change you wish to see in the world!” (Quote from Mahatma Gandhi and this years theme).

Our physical therapists came together and served the needs of their communities in their own special way. In total we had volunteers from multiple states that prepared for months to have this special day of service all come together.

Take a look at what we did below!

At the Anderson Animal Shelter

We helped re-bag cans in order to be disposed of properly, prep animal kennels with new bedding, separate and shred newspapers for kennel bedding and socialize many puppies with lots of hugs and loves! Thank you to the Anderson Animal Shelter for allowing us a great day of service!

At the Chicago Food Depository

We packed 407 cases of pears & 120 cases of potatoes for a total of 20,025 lbs. of food resulting in 16,688 MEALS FOR THOSE IN NEED throughout Cook County!

At the San Diego Animal Shelter

The San Diego Team ran a “Fury Friends Pet Drive” collecting pet food, toys, blankets, collars, leashes, and anything related to a pet of any kind (fury or not)!
